Pond
Liners
Once you have finished digging a hole
for your pond, you want the water to stay and in order to accomplish
this you must place a barrier against the ground. The liner is the
foundation of the pond. You want to make sure that it is safe for
aquatic life and that it has a good warranty and reputation such as
Firestone PondGard.
Please never use a
roofing liner as these products are often treated with an algaecide that
is toxic to fish and plants!!
The first barrier liner you want to
place down is called an
underlayment. Over time this liner is better
then using sand or newspaper, because the fibers of the underlayment
liner will stop and cushion the edges of rocks before they puncture the
liner. If you skimp on the sand it will just allow the points of rocks
to puncture the liner, the same goes for the paper or carpet squares.
We offer
Firestone PondGard EPDM Liner
which is a free-form liner and some preformed liners from NurseryPro
which are called
FlexForm. These liners are so flexible that we just
roll up the liner and ship it to you in a box.
Don't skimp on your foundation or you
might be rebuilding your pond in 4 to 6 years.
